SOUTHWORKS is an annual event which highlights two exhibitions organized by at the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation (OCAF) and presented in their galleries located in Watkinsville, GA. One facet of SOUTHWORKS is the Director’s Choice Exhibition. A single artist of my choosing is invited, and past Director’s Choice artists include Margaret Morrison, Dale Chihuly and Philip Moulthrop to name a few. Exhibition: Aurora’s Flora and Fauna
Main Gallery, 1902 Building, OCAF Art Center 34 School Street, Watkinsville, GA, United StatesAurora Alva studied Architecture in Mexico City. Her work in pottery reflects her love for architecture , art and nature. Surface decoration, beautiful forms and functionality are very important to her.
Her work continues to evolve. Currently she uses white and raku clays. She uses a variety of methods such as wheel throwing, altering and marking techniques, layered underglazes, slip transfer and intricate application of glazing that brings unity to the finished piece.
