Introduction to Watercolor – Lauren Adams January 2025
Learn everything you need to build a strong foundation for getting started in watercolor, considered by some to be the most challenging painting medium. Receive detailed information on paper, paint, and brushes explained clearly and demonstrated in class. Practice mixing colors, learn how to do basic washes, and learn about techniques unique to watercolor. No experience Necessary!
Ceramics: Beginning Wheel Throwing- Fridays, January 10-February 21
This class covers the skills necessary to create vessels on the potters wheel. It will include centering the clay which is necessary to create anything on the wheel. It will progress to a variety of methods for creating cylinders, bowls, plates and bottles etc., and trimming the finished piece.
Beginning Pottery on the Wheel: Cups and Mugs – Tuesdays, January 21 – February 25
This class will cover the basics of throwing on the wheel. Our focus will be on cylinders, primarily cups and mugs. We will cover the process from fresh clay to a finished piece, which will include wedging clay, pulling handles, and glazing. Please note that you will get messy in this class. Wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and tying up hair is strongly suggested.
Designing with Layers in Watercolor with Kie Johnson and Leigh Ellis – January 23 – 25, 2025
This workshop is all about how to design your painting and apply the watercolor paint in various layers. Students will learn how to use masking fluid to block out areas of a painting that will not get paint. Demonstrations will include various approaches for applying the paint in different layers including pouring the paint.

Open Studio Watercolor Class with Kie Johnson – Wednesdays, February 5 – March 12
This class is designed to give students time under instruction to develop their skill level and learn more about how to develop their own images into successful watercolor paintings.
