Artists have been influenced by poets for centuries.  This call for small works creates an opportunity for the written words of poetry to stimulate a visual response.  Small Works Inspired by Poetry invites artists to submit small scale, abstract or figurative art inspired by the five poems contributed by Clela Reed, Carl Britton, Dana Smith, Pat Adams, and Rebecca Baggett.

STEP One: Review each of the 5 poems (Poems are available written and with a video clip).

STEP Two: Choose ONE poem  to inspire your visual response.  (Artist can choose only ONE poem).  There are only 25 slots available per poem.

The premise of the show is to exhibit works of nontraditional sizes. Artworks on a diminutive scale in 2D or 3D.  Media can include painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry, woodwork and more.

All works are required to be limited to 14 inches in any direction, including any frame, or smaller.

All works must be for sale. OCAF will deduct a 35% commission from each sold artwork. Please price artworks accordingly.

Exhibition Dates: January 15 – February 26, 2021.The exhibition will consist of virtual and in-person components.


  • Artists must be 18 years of age or older

  • Artwork must be created based on the poems provided

  • The maximum size of all artwork including the frame is 14” in any direction or smaller

  • Artwork is required to be for sale.

  • Artwork must be installation ready and appropriately framed.

  • Artist will be responsible for drop-off and pick-up and any shipping /delivery costs.

  • The Small Works Juried Exhibition will be comprised of a maximum of 125 works of art.
