Fiction/Memoir, Making a Scene:

Creative Writing Course with Heidi Lynn Nilsson

Each upcoming 5-week 2023 course will concentrate on an individual aspect of Fiction/Memoir, i.e. Character Development, Dialogue, etc.

Have you always wanted to write a novel or a memoir, but you don’t know where to start? Are you looking to improve your storytelling skills? Do you crave support and inspiration? This class is for you! Through guided readings, writing exercises, and workshops, you’ll develop foundational skills and strategies for writing an riveting scene. You’ll learn how to design engaging dialogue, compelling characters, and gripping plots. At the end of this class, you’ll have polished pieces of writing to share and skills to apply to your forthcoming works of prose.

INSTRUCTOR

Heidi Lynn Nilsson
Heidi Lynn NilssonInstructor
Heidi Lynn Nilsson holds a BA from the University of Virginia and an MFA in Writing from Washington University in St. Louis. She is the author of two poetry collections, “For the Fire from the Straw,” and “The Math of Gifts.” Her poems have appeared in many journals and anthologies, including Ploughshares, TriQuarterly, American Poet, The New Young American Poets anthology, and the New Voices anthology from The Academy of American Poets. She lives in Oconee County with her husband and three daughters.
