Having Fun with Plein Air with Jack Burk

Days (Typically): Saturdays

Dates: TBD

Times (Typically): 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Length: 3 Classes / 2.5 Hours per Class

Age: 18+

Level: Intermediate

Class Fee (Previously):  $120 members/$130 non-members

Materials List (Bring/Wear):

  • Artistic tools of your choice. Suggestions: watercolor, ink, pencil, pastel, oils, acrylics, pen, and colored pencil.
  • Drawing board with paper or plein air easel
  • Chair
  • Walking shoes
  • Layered clothing

Location: Various locations near Watkinsville. In the event of rain, the session will move indoors or be rescheduled.

Class Description: In this course, you will develop an appreciation for your surroundings and capture those moments of light, color and shadow through the eyes  and skills of you, the artist. Above all, we will enjoy the painting and drawing in the outdoors. You will receive guided instruction on plein air painting at three different outdoor locations in Watkinsville, including a garden. Limited to 12 students.

About the instructor:

Jack Burk is a local retired Art Educator living in Athens. He is originally from Iowa and taught in public and private schools for 42 years. He is a current member of OCAF, The Athens Area Plein Air Artists, Athens Art Association and Lyndon House. He has artwork in private collections in the Midwest and in the Athens area and has shown work in various exhibits at the State Botanical Garden, OCAF, and Lyndon House.
