The show will be an experience of the uniqueness of living with fiber-- of the joy that comes from being intentional about what seems ordinary which makes them extraordinary. The focus of the show is the fun of these objects -- loving and living with crafted art forms. Opening Reception: June 7, 6-8pm

2019 OCAF Members’ Show Opening Reception

The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. Visitors will get the opportunity to see many of the artists whose work will be on display.

OCAF - Rocket Hall 34 School Street, Watkinsville, GA, United StatesThe opening Gala, Reception and Preview Sale are a pottery collector’s paradise with an extensive selection of hand-made functional pottery with over 6,000 pots to choose from in the Rocket Hall Sales Gallery. Meet and mingle with this year’s participating potters while enjoying a catered buffet and liquid refreshments under the tents adjacent to the 1902 Building. Music will be provided by a jazz group, who perform a unique blend of Jazz standards featuring collective communication and soulful improvisation.

This annual exhibit is considered by many as the finest display of contemporary pottery in the southeast.

OCAF - Rocket Hall 34 School Street, Watkinsville, GA, United StatesRocket Hall will be rocking with more than 6,000 pieces of handmade pottery produced by 50 of Georgia’s finest potters. Most potters will replenish their stock during the event. This 16th annual premium sale of contemporary functional and decorative pottery is one of the largest of its kind in the Southeast.
Perspectives 2019, Members Gallery: Pottery of Glenn Dair
Members Gallery, 1902 Building, OCAF Art Center 34 School Street, Watkinsville, GA, United StatesGlenn Dair served as the Director of the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center Pottery Program and he received his Masters of Fine Arts Degree (Ceramics) from the University of Georgia in 1975. His work is primarily focused on architecturally influenced vessel forms and is included in public, private and corporate collections. He produces work from his studio in Atlanta, Georgia.
Perspectives 2019, Hall Gallery: The Unique Pottery of Beth Tarkington (Aug. 31 – Sept. 15, 10am – 5pm daily)*
Members Gallery, 1902 Building, OCAF Art Center 34 School Street, Watkinsville, GA, United StatesBeth works with terra cotta, earthenware clay because it’s natural, a little raw, and unrefined. Her work is hand built using slab, coil, mold and sculptural techniques. Her surface work is painterly, involving layering of slips, stains, underglazes, oxides and glaze through the processes of wax-resist, texturing, carving, painting, slip trail and brushwork, requiring multiple firings.
