OCAF Artist of the Week- Isaac Alcantar
OCAF Art Center 34 School Street, Watkinsville, GA, United StatesAlcantar, a member of Fine Art America since 2013, studied drawing for two years with artist Bill Stevens at the Hudgens Art Center. Alacantar had his first solo exhibition at the Mexican consulate and following that was invited to exhibit another solo show at Clila- Coalicion De Lideres Latinos in Dalton.

OCAF Artist of the Week-Janet Rodekohr
OCAF Art Center 34 School Street, Watkinsville, GA, United StatesJanet lives in Bishop and discovered watercolor after she retired from the University of Georgia in 2001. She grew up on a Nebraska farm and nurtures a love for animals and rural scenes. She likes to find bold layers of color combined with the delicate interpretation of depth and details. She enjoys exploring a variety of subjects, but anything with a face — human or animal — is her favorite.
Janet has taken workshops with nationally recognized artists including Stan Miller, Jane Angelhart, Lian Quan Zhen, Jeannie McGuire, David Lobenberg and Paul Jackson. She currently serves as the recording secretary for the Georgia Watercolor Society. She is a member of the Bowen Arts Center, Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation in Watkinsville, the Artisans Village Guild in Eatonton and the Georgia Watercolor Society.

Learning the art fundamentals of proportion, figurative, compositions and others; I mainly learned through comic books at a young age.
Attending Virginia Commonwealth University for painting and printmaking is where I degreed with a BFA. After decades of oil painting I current paint abstractly. I paint with no catagory; but to pull diffrent forms of art, experiences, knowledge, and emotions into creativity. Aestheticlly I am a very calculated thinker. However; at times you have to relying on risk, chance, and pure instinct. My focus is on every mark, shape, color, and other elements as my work progresses. My subject matters I try to keep relevant, my paintings universal, and ides to todays culture.
Oconee County: Youth Art Month 2021

For the entire month, we will highlight the importance of quality arts and education to the lives of our Oconee County Students through the Youth Art Month Exhibition (YAM). The exhibition will be on view March 5-26, 2021.

OCAF Artist of the Week-Danny Henriquez
OCAF Art Center 34 School Street, Watkinsville, GA, United StatesDanny Henriquez is a Dominican-American artist born and raised in New York City. The youngest in a family of four, he became interested in art while riding the public transit system. The bright colors of the Krylon and Rustoleum painted walls had Danny in a constant hunt to decipher the hidden meaning and eventually inspired him to try graffiti writing himself.

This is the time to say thank you for being a volunteer and valued member of the OCAF family. Although volunteer opportunites have been limited due to the pandemic, your service has helped us remain strong and connected. To show our appreciation, you are invited to join us in the OCAF Sculpture and Memorial Garden on April 16th from 5pm-6pm, one hour before the SouthWorks opening reception.
